Elizabeth A. McClure

Seafarers’ International Union

Born in Owen Sound, Ontario, “Eliza” was one of the daughters of William Henry and Martha Harrison. Along with many Black people in the area in the 20th century, she worked, “on the boats” as a marine stewardess. This Seafarers’ International Union card was issued to her in 1955. The S.I.U. membership card was donated to the Grey Roots archival collection by her son, Alonzo McClure.
