James S. Williams

International Typographical Union Local 91 (d. 1929)

Born in England, James S. Williams became a printer in Toronto and an active member of the International Typographical Union Local 91. Prominent in the Toronto Trades Assembly and the Canadian Labor Union, he served as the editor of Canada’s first labour newspaper, the Ontario Workman. Williams would assist in founding the new Toronto Trades and Labor Council in 1881.
