OPSEU Local 594, Chinese Workers Network

A first-generation Canadian originally from Beijing, Liyu Guo calls Toronto her second hometown. Having lived in the city for over 30 years, she realized early on there are many vulnerable families in need. A dedicated advocate of the labour movement and social justice, she became a union steward with OPSEU Local 594. In May 2021, she won the Bromley Armstrong Award in recognition of her significant contributions to the labour movement. The Bromley Lloyd Armstrong Awards are an annual event put on by the Toronto and York Region Labour Council in partnership with Labour Community Services and United Way Greater Toronto.
